| History: | This Vekoma Whirlwind was built in 1982. There are conflicting stories as to it's origin prior to Särkänniemi Amusement Park. Some say it was the Whirlwind that previously operated at Clacton Pier in Clacton-on-sea, England. However, Vekoma has said the Clacton Pier Whirlwind went to Tivoly Park in Rio De Janeiro Brazil. The colors of the Clacton Pier and Tivoly Park Whirlwinds are a match thus supporting this move.
Särkänniemi isn't sure of it's origin but said it was purchased from Wieland Schwarzkopf. Wieland Schwarzkopf however says he did not sell it to Särkänniemi. |
| Etymology: | "Korkkiruuvi" is Finnish for "Corkscrew". |
