| History: | Spanish Fort was made up of several smaller parks or themed areas. In 1918, some of the ride and concession owners pooled there money together to purchase the park. They were then asked by the city of New Orleans to relocate part of the park to make room for a drainage project. So, they packed up the entire park and relocated everything 600 yards closer to the lakefront and did some new layout to make it into more of a boardwalk. Harry Batt, the primary ride owner then purchased the park from the other partners and the newly relocated park became Pontchatrain Beach (the first park too hold this name). |
