| 1887: | Alexander G. Kent built a 75-room hotel on Geauga Lake called the "Kent House." |
| 1889: | A steam-powered carousel opens and becomes Geauga Lake's first amusement ride. |
| 1969: | Funtime, Inc. purchases the park. |
| 1995: | Premier Parks, Inc., purchases the park. |
| 1998: | Premier Parks, Inc., purchases the Six Flags corporation. |
| 12/8/1999: | With Premier Parks, Inc. owning the Six Flags brand, the park is renamed to "Six Flags Ohio". |
| 1/2001: | Six Flags purchases SeaWorld Cleveland for $110 million and the park becomes Six Flags Worlds of Adventure a marine life, thrill and water park. |
| 3/10/2004: | Cedar Fair purchases the park from Six Flags for $145 million. The animal park, formerly Seaworld, is closed for the season and the animals are relocated to other Six Flags properties. |
| 2005: | Wildwater Kingdom, a 20-acre waterpark opens on the 56 acres formerly occupied by Sea World. |
| 9/21/2007: | The park announces that starting with the 2008 season the park will become exclusively a water park. |
