| The name Vekoma is a syllabic acronym of 'Veld Koning Machinefabriek' meaning 'Veld Koning Machine factory'. |
| Vekoma was started in 1926 by Hendrik op het Veld as 'Veldkoning' and was active in the production of plows and agricultural machinery. It later made machines for mining operations as well as for the petrochemical industry. They built their first ride, a ferris wheel in 1967. In 1983 they dropped all other activities and started focusing solely on roller coasters and amusement rides. |
